75 years on since the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the annual Holocaust Memorial Day Civic Ceremony commemorates the victims of the Holocaust and remembers all subsequent victims of the genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Darfur and Bosnia.
Imam Sejad Mekic of Cambridge Central Mosque will be speaking at this year’s event. He will reflect on the 25th anniversary of the genocide in Bosnia, recalling the fear he experienced there as a child, and will be highlighting the need for peace and tolerance.
The Civic Ceremony will take place on Sunday 26 January from 3:00pm – 4:30pm at Cambridge Corn Exchange, 2 Wheeler Street, Cambridge, CB2 3QB. Admission to the event is free and all are welcome to attend.
