MEET AN IMAM

INTRODUCTION

The Mosque offers its congregation the ability to book a meeting with an Imam. For all options you will need to note what specifically you would like to talk about. All meetings are free, and can be booked at most 14 days in advance, except for Shahada ceremonies which can be booked 28 days in advance. It is essential that the Imams’ time is respected.

Note that our Imams are only able to meet in-person. At this time they are not able to accommodate meetings over the phone or via video call, nor are they able to answer queries over email.

OUTSIDE OUR SCOPE

There are a number of things that are currently outside the scope of the Mosque and its Imams. The Mosque and its Imams cannot issue fatwas, provide therapy, offer legal or financial support/advice, or provide regular sessions. We cannot assist in arbitration or offer couple’s counselling. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I can’t see any availability. What does that mean?

The booking system only allows you to book up to 14 days in advance. If there is no availability that means the Imams are too busy over the next two weeks to accept more meetings. However, everyday a new set of appointments should become available, so keep checking the booking page until you find a time that works for you.

Is there a general consultation option?

No, our Imams cannot currently accept bookings without knowing the topic and the specific query.

Should I book a meeting?

Currently the meetings are intended for longer conversations. For quick questions you could ask the Imam informally after a Salat in the Mosque or look to other resources that provide Q&A facilities. If you cannot find an appropriate place to seek an answer, then you can book a meeting and note what the question is.

Can I select which Imam I would like to meet?

Yes, you are able to select. However the availability of the Imams is limited, so unless you have a specific reason for speaking to a particular Imam, we strongly suggest you book to meet any Imam that is available. Currently Imam Sejad and Imam Zakarya are accepting meetings (learn more about our Imams here).

Can a female meet the Imam?

Yes, although it is suggested that if you are female, you attend with a friend or family member, as otherwise the Imam will need to speak in a public space.
